Latest Power Packed Intel Xeon W-2400, W-3400 and Scalable Processor Specifications
Apr 28, 2023

‘Sapphire Rapids’ Intel Xeon W-2400 and Xeon W-3400 single socket workstation processors and Scalable Processor with up to 56 cores. Workflows that benefit from more cores, more memory or higher memory bandwidth, such as visualization and simulation and will be of less interest to users of CAD or BIM software.

Intel Xeon W-2400 Series is classified as a ‘mainstream’ workstation processor with eight models ranging from 6 to 24 cores.

The Intel Xeon W-3400 Series is for ‘experts’ with seven models ranging from 12 to 56 cores.

The Golden Cove’ cores processors do not have the hybrid Performance Core (P-Core) / Efficiency Core (E-core) architecture pioneered by 12th Gen and 13th Gen Intel Core processors.

Xeon processors with an X suffix – are unlocked so the processor can be overclocked. A range of tuning features will be made available through the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel XTU).

Intel Xeon W-3400 is a replacement for the previous W-3300 line, but with substantially higher core counts and improved performance. They feature eight-channel memory controllers, as previous generations had, with up to 56 cores (112 threads with Hyperthreading).

Intel Xeon W-2400 represents Intel’s re-introduction of a high-end desktop (HEDT) processor, which has been absent since their Core X line faded from the spotlight a few years ago. These are more affordable than the W-3400 series and equipped with quad-channel memory controllers, but only go up to 24 cores / 48 threads.
