Built for high-end computing and visualization, the HP Z840 delivers outstanding performance in one of the industry’s most expandable chassis. Primed to perform, the HP Z840 allows you to achieve the performance you need with the ability to support two next generation Intel Xeon processors for up to 36 total processor cores in one system.
It also supports “Turbo Boost” which automatically boosts the processor speed based on workload – so if an application is only using one of the 88 cores it will automatically increase the speed of the core in use and turn off the unused cores.

The HP Z840 has 16 DIMM Slots for DDR4 ECC Memory; 8 DIMM slots for each processor.
Room for everything: To realize full performance at least 1 DIMM must be inserted into each channel. The CPUs determine the speed at which the memory is clocked. For example, if a 1600MHz capable CPU is used in the system, the maximum speed the memory will run at is 1600MHz regardless of the specified speed of the memory. 8 DIMM 1 processor and 16 DIMM 2 processors
