How to Configure Revit Workstation for Optimum Performance

MEMORY

Revit is memory hungry. The amount of memory needed to run Revit smoothly is about 20 times the size of the project file. When the user executes a command, there is a lot of interaction between the memory and the processor.

Tasks such as structural analysis, modifying level heights, energy simulations, and calculations of MEP systems will benefit from system memory. Same as Revit, 3ds Max, Lumion render engine also rely on RAM.

GRAPHICS

To accelerate the Revit viewport opt for NVIDIA Quadro P2000 5GB or P4000 8GB instead of most advanced professional graphics card NVIDIA Quadro P5000 or P6000 for 3D CAD Design workflows.

CPU

Recent improvements of Autodesk Revit are handled by CPU Processors.

Our recommendation to save money rather on expensive GPU invest on faster CPU.

STORAGE

Revit Models generally complex large project files of 10GB, 20GB or more storage. Many Revit users collaborate with each other on a central project file over a LAN

Even though the Linked files get benefit from local storage PCIe M.2 SSD, they are temporarily stored in Windows temp folder. But these linked files need to travel the network, so network bottleneck is possible.

NETWORK

GIGABIT Ethernet can be adequate for file-based work sharing on a local LAN. Upgrading your network to 10 Gb Ethernet to reduce Sync times for large files.
